Newly Updated Sabrina Slims

In early 2018 I discovered the Sabrina Slims pants pattern by Love Notions and promptly made several pairs. Pants are not an easy make for me so I’m always intrigued by cute knit pants pattern with no closures. Closures are intimidating so I try to avoid them if I can. It has been my go to pants pattern ever since. This red pair is the first pair I made.

Followed by this cute black pair. I wear A LOT of black so this was pretty much a necessity.

I have several others but these are my two favorite that are in constant rotation. These first pairs have front pockets which wasn’t and option when the pattern first released. You could find one on the Love Notions blog if you wanted. However, that has all been rectified in the re-release.

I’m happy to announce this pattern just received an update to expand the size range(sizes 0-32) and add some fun options! I was lucky enough to be part of the team that tested this pattern to make it the best! Now more sewists  can enjoy this wonderful pattern. Here’s the details.

“The Sabrina Slims were inspired by the 1950’s ‘cigarette’ style pants most notably worn by

Audrey Hepburn. The Love Notions take on this classic style features a wide, contoured

waistband that sits at the natural waist, a slim fit through the waist and hips and straight

from the knees down. This is a slim-fit pant from waist to knee and then straight to ankle.

The Sabrina Slims are meant to hit at the ankle but instructions are included to lengthen

if desired. Also included are optional welt pockets and center front and back seaming to

add interest and give the illusion of length. Three inseam options are included. Make the

pants maternity by adding the underbelly waistband. These pants are meant for stretch

wovens and stable knits.”

Ponte Knit is my go to fabric for this particular pattern.  Ponte, like shown above, is a really good, stable knit to sew these with but would be good in a stretch woven as well, like denim or twill. Here’s a full length pair I made in stretch denim in January of 2018.

For this pair I made the view that has seams down the center front and back legs. I also put welt pockets on the back. Included with the pattern is a great explanation on how to do the welt pockets with a link to a video if you  need something more in depth.

The Sabrina Slims were amazing when they first released and they are even better now. Here’s a few reasons why I love the newly Updated Sabrina Slims:

1. Higher rise and Wider waistband.

2. Front pocket addition with Control panel for tummy support

3. Ankle Zips or Vents

4. Patch or Welt pockets on back

5. Expanded Size range!

If you have never tried sewing your own pants, you may want to give the Sabrina Slims a try. Pants making can be scary and a little frustrating. It’s something I’m still learning.  The Sabrina Slims pattern comes with a digital fitting book to help you get the fit just right. There aren’t any tricky closures either so they are super beginner friendly.  It’s no wonder this pattern has been a best seller since it first release. So much thought and care goes into every aspect of making ALL Love Notions patterns. It’s easy to fall in love with each one. I hope you’ll fall in love too!
