DIY Matching Stripe Set!

I love that comfort wear is completely acceptable as outerwear. So when I saw this multi stripe ITY knit in the discount fabric bin at Walmart I knew I had to make myself a new comfy set with it. ITY fabric is soft, slinky and amazing to wear in the hot months. It’s not see-through, comes in lots of colors and it barely wrinkles so it’s perfect for packing to go on vacation. I have made joggers, yoga pants, capris, dresses and shirts with ITY but never shorts. I decided that the matching set would have to be a short set. Take these athletic polo shirts for example. These shirts were long ago discarded as undesirable. They are made with athletic fabric similar to swim suit fabric. Why not give them a new life as a  swimsuit!

Give Old, Jeans New Life!

I found these denim pants at the thrift store a few weeks ago for $1.99. They were quite short and the elastic in the waist was worn out. You could tell they had once been well loved. I immediately had this idea. What if I buy them and completely give them a makeover? For $1.99 I was willing to give them a shot.

A Matching Set You Can Mix and Match!

Simplicity 9051 isn’t the style of pattern I typically reach for when deciding what type of shirt to make. However, that’s exactly what I loved about it. It’s simple yet glamorous, casual yet sophisticated all squished together in one! I love it. I didn’t love the pants pattern that came with it, but I had another Simplicity pattern that I did like, Simplicity 8841. I decided to make a matching set that I could mix and match with other items in my wardrobe. Read more “A Matching Set You Can Mix and Match!”
