Duplicating Boutique Overalls

I recently purchased the most comfy, unflatterning, baggy pair of overalls from an online boutique and I love them fiercely.  I make 99% of the clothing I wear so this was definitely out of character for me to purchase something like this. With their comfy and rugged aesthetic along with a 30% off discount I had to get them . Plus, I figured it would be a good opportunity for me to work the old brain muscle and take a pattern off of them so I could replicate them over and over. If I took a pattern from them I could make a few pairs for myself and my sisters and not have to pay the crazy boutique prices for another pair. Cuz I was definitely going to want another pair. I could make them in every color of the rainbow if I wanted, and out of what ever fabric I found suitable and not be limited to whatever the boutique had on sale. It was a win, win. From Awkward Dress to Comfy Jumpsuit!

I found this dress at my local thrift store for $4. It was quite awkward with an off center, curved seam down the front with a horrible drawstring turtleneck design. I love flounce ruffles but the one on this dress was sewn into the side seam which made it not flounce at all.  Blue is my favorite color and this particular color of blue was hard for me to find at the time. I would never wear this dress but I knew I could use the fabric and make something I would wear all the time. Here’s how I refashioned this dress. Read more “From Awkward Dress to Comfy Jumpsuit!”

Petal Sleeve T-Shirt!

I’m all for simple things. Give me t-shirts, sweatpants or leggings all the time. My version of dressing up is a t-shirt, sandals and pencil skirt. I can’t help it. It’s what I like. From Bed Sheet to Maxi Dress!

A few years ago I found this super comfy grey maxi dress at the thrift store for $3. It immediately became a wardrobe MVP. Since I wear it so much I decided I needed another one. It had to be just as comfy as the grey one though. I searched everywhere for the perfect fabric. Then my friend donated to me a truck load of fabric from her stash. Hidden deep inside one of the many bundles was the softest modal jersey knit top sheet. It wasn’t the right size for any of the beds at my house, but it was perfect for a maxi dress Read more “From Bed Sheet to Maxi Dress!”
