Refashion a Short Dress to a Tiered Maxi Dress!
In June of 2022 I mashed together two patterns to make a cute little floral dress. I used the Lyric Peplum and the Allegro Skirt from Love Notions Patterns. I wore it to a summer wedding that same day and loved it. However, I have very recently become obsessed with tiered skirts so I thought I would use a tiered skirt pattern to help me refashion this floral dress.
The Pattern…
The Caprice Skirt is Love Notions newest brain child and I am obsessed. Just look at these 5 options. To add the tiers to my dress I would be using view D.
Let’s Make Some Little Changes…
Now, I didn’t use all the pattern pieces for view D. I just used the middle and bottom pieces. My dress had pockets that I wanted to keep as they were so I would only need to cut off about the bottom 6 inches of the dress. The top tier of the skirt was slightly wider than the part on my dress I would be adding the middle tier to. That was ok because it just meant that I would need to gather that middle tier a little more.
Another thing I changed just a little was how I attached the tiers. For a slightly differnt look I attached them wrong sides together after I serged the edges. It made the seams be visible but it also kind of looked like a little ruffle at the seams too. Which I really liked.
Perfect Dress to Celebrate in!
I love this little maxi dress so much! I love the pink floral fabric design and how it moves when I wear it. I made my hubby a tie to match and we wore our little ensemble to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary.
